Hi, Is there any English classes running in London for asylum seeking mothers, covering travel expenses and child care ? Thanks

English classes - Waltham or Newham

Hello,
I'm not sure where you live but there are free English classes for asylum seeker parents who live in the Waltham Forest area starting in February for 24 weeks. the classes are 2 hours on Thursdays and Fridays and you can go either at 10-1 or 1-4. You also have to be benefits registered. At the moment there is no free childcare but they are moving to the town hall so one or two weeks after it has started there will be childcare for children over 1 year old.

If you don't live in the Waltham Forest area then there is another scheme in Newham which anyone who is an asylum seeker parent and is unemployed and benefits registered can attend.

The woman on this number is really nice and can answer any questions and can tell you more and help you find free classes in other areas too.

0208 221 2688.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
I know how difficult it can be to arrange childcare with learning on courses so one idea I have for you to start with is to use the internet. The BBC do some online exercises to improve reading, writing, spelling and grammar in English so you could give that a try. I don't know if you have access to internet at home or how old your children are and whether they can come with you to an internet cafe but at least this is an idea:

Good luck!
